Most movies however good tends to drag after a while.

I would say that this is one of the easiest movies that I have sat through in like forever.
#Njandukalude nattil oridavela narrator movie
Its not a serious movie so no one is going to win an Oscar for it but everyone who has acted in it has done a commendable job. The best part about the movie are the dialogues. For his first movie Althaf Salim has done a pretty good job. The bloke who plays Mary's boy-friend George in Premam is one of the writer and the bloke who plays Mary's friend Jehangir is the Director. The movie stars a lot of the cast members of Premam. It is a very light- hearted comedy that is a joy to sit through. You would tend to assume that maybe the movie gets serious in the second half but it rarely does. Its only after watching the movie that I realized that Crab is the symbol for the star-sign Cancer.Nivin Pauly's mother is diagnosed with early onset of cancer and the movie deals with how the family comes to term with the circumstances. Its only later that I realized that it is Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela(An interval in the land of crabs). I used to think that its Nhangalude Naattil Oridavela(An Interval in our Land). I genuinely had no idea what the name of the movie meant for a while. Then I saw Vellimoonga & 1983 and have been watching Malayalam movies since.I have since watched some absolute gems like Maheshinthe Prathikaram & Action Hero Biju. Neram was the first Malayalam movie I saw in a very long time. Then around 3-4 years back someone informed me that Malayalam Cinema is slowly undergoing a transformation with meaningful well made movies and good actors like Fahadh, Prithviraj, Nivin and the likes. Most of the 2000's was a really bad phase for Malayalam Cinema. It was either the same old goofball comedy in different contexts, or some guy beating up hundreds of people while mumbling English nonsense or some guy romancing girls 1/3rd his age. I had fallen out of love with Malayalam movies a long time back. He is one of the reasons I started watching Malayalam movies again. Hareesh Kanaran’s Kozhikode slang counter dialogues occasionally save the movie from being a dud.Let me begin by saying that I am a huge Nivin Pauly fan. Innocent and Dileesh Pothan are given caricature like characters. But Raveena’s diction and the overall nature of that character makes the performance look artificial. Deepthi Sathi and Raveena Ravi have finally managed to find the rhythm. (Similar justification scenes were there in Velipadinte Pusthakam as well). It just wants his look and it is interesting how Malayalam screen writers have become “progressive” about age gap between man and woman in a relationship when the superstars became old. The role offers zero challenges to Mammootty. The music was okay, but the placement of almost all the songs was bad. Cinematography is occasionally interesting, but the excessive visual beautification is a bit annoying. He has almost made it look like those tacky Tamil comedy movies. Once you finish watching Pullikkaran Staraa, it will be tough for you to believe that 7th Day was not directed by Prithviraj such an unappealing dull making from Shyamdhar.

I have no clue why they included that bus song in the end and the following heroics. Sometimes it’s an unconvincing love story and at times it is an unbaked social preach. Like some of the tips and tricks Rajakumaran uses in his classroom sessions. Ratheesh Ravi’s script has convincing small moments soaked in extreme goodness. We do get to know what will happen with the characters as they behave eccentrically. Hero is meeting one of the leading ladies accidentally and what follows after that has been conveniently written without questioning the practicality and possibility. This is the kind of logic one would expect in those GV Prakash movies. And the very next day they are following someone who smiled at him. He arrives at a new place in Ernakulam to stay, and literally after 1or 2 hours his long lost friend and unfamiliar neighbour decide to find a girl for him. We have the cliche childhood narration of the hero and then a sudden jump to the present day. But when you watch the film, it doesn’t have that attire. Well the synopsis might give you a feel that it is about a man’s internal conflict in finding a partner. The film tells us about the events that unfold when two women enter his life at the same time. Now he is a man in his 40’s and he is working as a teacher trainer. He is this unlucky fellow who had a bad reputation during his childhood due to certain misunderstandings.
